Redback Paradox Review!
« on: January 21, 2011, 23:22:30 PM »
Hi all,
One of my first posts on this forum, very nice to see another succesful forum out there I must say!
Here is a review of a bat that I got a while back now, I think it was on New Year's Day, what a New Year present eh! :D
It's a Redback Paradox Premier, bought off a mate of mine, and it had just come back from a refurb at Gary's as soon as I received it, for a bargain price I can disclose if you wish (please PM me as I'd rather not it be broadcast!!).
Having looked at it immediately, I thought that it looked very nice, and though the aesthetics aren't the best I've ever seen I knew that it would be on a par with my SAF (Pics and a Review of this are to come VERY soon, as soon as I have some spare time, Tuesday night hopefully, as Mock GCSE exams finish then for me!)...I have since used the bat in a few nets and will now detail the specs and performance.

Weight: 2.12 with one 2 coloured octo grip!
Edges: 27mm I am aware.
Heartwood: On the RHB Outside Edge!
Grains: 15-16, not all straight, but looks pretty Decent IMO!
Picks up very well I might add, I think that it is a real bargain for the price I acquired it for and am naturally very pleased!

I've used this in 3 nets now and each time it just gets better and better. The ping off the middle is unreal, it really does fly, and due to the profile, the middle is very long, with a huge sweet spot, just how I like it. This enables me to play all kinds of shots, which is brilliant. I net at Lords regularly, which is a bouncy track, so I get to play drives, pulls, cuts and the lot!
Even the shots I mis-hit still go pretty well, and I hardly notice the fact it is a 2.12 (I am 15 and was using Junior bats about 4 months ago you see, so an increase of 8oz has had hardly any effect with this bat :)
Overall, a great bargain, and I would like to thank Gary at Redback, he really does make some weapons down in Devon, and the person who sold this to me! :)
Really happy with this bat, a cracker in my eyes, and it will see some good use next year!

Pictures are to follow!!

You think mate?! :D Well, if so, I am greatly honoured to have it!! I have seen a couple that can match it for aesthetics and looks in general...., in my opinion, but hey!! Hope you like the pics.
It truly is a gun of a bat. Will have another think when I bat with it on Tuesday, hopefully I can have 2 knocks with it, instead of the standard 1 10 minute session in a winter net :D
Cheers for your comment though! Good to see some more posting going on.
Perhaps you could review one of your bats??? ???

Look superb Johan!

I really like Paradox shape/profile and always wanted to buy a Redback in fact was very tempted in snapping this one so I guess you snapped at right time hehe

I hope it plays well for you and you score tons of runs with it and more importantly a century with it :D

Cheers Uzair!
Majid, I have an e-mail from Gary somewhere about the profiles so I shall put that up in a topic here imminently!! I think the Paradox has a longer middle Uzair, wouldn't necessarily say it is low...more mid-low, as is the allegiance one. I think there is more wood behind the allegiance middle and we can see that thus the ball will fly off it, whereas the Paradox is more for a classical player, smaller edges etc...well anyway, seeing as I have gone on for a while: look out for the topic...in 10 mins I expect!!
Cheers
