Gray Nicolls Legend Bat Pictures
« on: February 16, 2011, 22:58:12 PM »
I took these pictures at my local shop Mapperley sports (www.cricketsales.co.uk)
Both bats are 2.9, good size profiles, nice narrow grains with some heartwood, lovely balance/feel and feather light pick up. Mapperley sports customer service is very good & they have an impressive selection of Gray Nicolls(all handpicked). I very highly recommend them. Please leave comments or ask any question(s) thanks

Nice, I much prefer bat 2 to bat 1 in terms of aesthetics. How did bat one feel, seeing as you seemed to have got your hands on it. They both look nice profiles, the slant of the Heartwood on Bat 1 would probably turn me off paying £400 for it though. Or however much it is, what were the prices?
Also, did you take Bat 2 out of the bag, they both look quite nice, what was the pickup like Majid? In addition, where would you say the middle of the Legend was, and do you think it would be quite wide-ranging?
Cheers :)

The price is £300. I looked at bat 1 but not carefully didnt really mallet test it. It had good balance and light pick up. It has mid placed sweetspot and its sort of extended frm high to low wide-ranging. I cba to take out the 2nd bat frm the bag.

I picked 2 up at the Oval Shop earlier today. Was a 2.9 which looked ugly but I guess it would go, and a 2.10 which looked better, still blemishes on the face which wasn't impressive for a TOTR bat, from their top 1% of willow. Though I might have bought based on the performance, as in the end that is all that matters, however for people like Jon (CBF) - I guess it would have to look the mutts' nuts as well! :D

Johan, Does the oval shop have 2011 adidas softs? if you go again then check them out for me please. I want to get them (adidas county pads and pro gloves to match my adidas Majid incurza bat). If they feel similar to SS matrix then I will get them.

It does have some adidas softs, I saw some Pro Pads. I will have a look for you when I go to the Oval for another net on Friday I think.
Hope that's OK. You could always try ringing them up, though, but I guess an opinion on their feel is worth it. I did see some GN Evo 500 Pads, which were almost exactly like the SS Pads. So those could be worth a try, though if you like matching softs I will have a look when I go back.

Oh sorry, I meant this coming Friday, the 25th. I will have a look for you, though I will be pressed for time, as have to shoot there and shoot off somewhere pronto after my net :( - I will do my best mate :) - though I would get more than just my opinion, do Mapperly not sell them?
